Does God have a wife?

by | Dec 24, 2012 | God, Questions

No, God does not have a wife. There is nothing in the Scriptures that says God is married. Think about it. For God to be married, there would have to be a male-female relationship between him and her. But that is not biblical. Also, is there any place in the Bible that says God has a wife? Of course not.

However, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also known as the Mormons, teach that God has a wife. In fact, it teaches that God used to be a man on another world, was married, became a God, and that he and his goddess wife came to this world and populated it by having sexual relations in heaven. The spirit offspring they produce inhabit human babies at birth.

Mormonism is considered a non-Christian cult by Christianity for that and other reasons.

Nevertheless, biblically speaking, God is spirit (John 4:24), and that spirit does not have flesh and bones (Luke 24:39). If God the Father does not have a body of flesh and bones, then he can’t be male. That would further mean he couldn’t be married and have a goddess wife.
